Trent and I are going to be parents in August!!!! We are so excited for this blessing! Right now I am 12 weeks along and baby is due 8/18/2012.
We actually didn't find out that I was pregnant until Christmas Eve (6 weeks). That was the best Christmas Present Ever! I've been sick since week 8 and I'm praying that I will soon be feeling better. Trent is so excited to be a daddy!

PDS - Potentially Dangerous Situation

         Hello from Dallas! We have been here in Texas for a week now and it's definitely been an adventure. The day we left, we dropped Scooter off at my inlaws (emotional day for me!) and began our drive to Dallas. We drove through Eastern Utah and many Indian Reservations before spending the night in Albuquerque. It was a bad night in New Mexico and we decided that we are going to drive straight home in August instead of staying there again. The next day we drove to Dallas. On our way, we drove through a swarm of bees (?!). Don't ask me why they were in the middle of the road. Their bodies exploded upon impact and left our car covered in honey! It was really weird. We are now here living in Frisco, Texas with Trent's brother and his family of five. Full house!
   Trenton's internship is going really well! He enjoys working with designers and meeting clients. His manager must like him as well because on Trent's second day, his manager asked him if he would be willing to move here for a job.
         I've been scanning the job market in search of something to keep me from dying of boredom. I'm only staying out here until mid-July so I have slim pickings.
         The humidity out here is so... heavy! I feel like I weigh 2000 pounds! Also, the weather has been crazy! One minute it's sunny and 90 and the next, it's raining like mad and 66. Last night we had a Tornado watch/warning. The meteorologists are really on the ball here and they can tell you to the minute what time a storm will hit your area. The meteorologist issued a PDS warning for our area and said that only 7% of storms are PDS so it was a serious warning. Well last night at 8:20, we went outside to watch the storm clouds and lightening approach. At 8:24, we went inside because of the rain. About two minutes after that, we went outside to watch again and heard the tornado sirens going off not far from us and so we went inside to the tornado closet. We didn't have to hang out there for long and then it just lightening and thundered the rest of the night. Such a cool experience!
   So far Dallas has been fun! I've been sad at times missing home and missing Scooter, but today it's sunny and I'm hoping to spend time at the pool. Hope all is well with ya'll!

Hello Again

         It's been a very long time! This last semester of school was crazy to say the least. I am officially done for Spring and I am ready to enjoy the summer before I go back in the Fall. Trent still has one more week before he is free (boo!). Trent and I are FINALLY seniors! You're probably thinking, "Haven't they been going to school forever?" and yes, we have. One more year and then we are finished! Possibly a master's program for Trent???
              School was crazy for me this winter because I began to actually treat patients. It was nerveracking but exciting all at the same time! I'm proud to say that I really do enjoy cleaning teeth and I am very excited to be a hygienist! We had to make a video for the orientation for the class of 2013 and we did an 80's theme dance video!

                  During my spring break, I was able to go to San Diego for a week-long girls trip with my mom, aunt, cousin, sisters, and sister-in-law. Although seven women in one two-bedroom condo can be a bit much, the majority of the trip was really fun! While we were there, it happened to be my great-uncle's 95th birthday. It was so fun to celebrate with him! And of course, we had to go to Disneyland!

Trent has been super busy this semester working on projects and applying for a summer internship. After all of his hard work, he has been offered a summer position with a nationally recognized design firm and we will be living in Dallas for the summer! Trent is really excited and I'm really proud of him for working so hard!

Lastly, Scooter has been as cute as ever. We discovered that he likes to watch Trent play the piano and he loves to be wrapped up in blankets.

          Well, that's the update! I'll try to blog more during the summer. I hope all is well with everyone and that you are all looking forward to summer weather!

Christmas Once Again

I can't believe it's already Christmas again! It seems like the older I get, the faster time flies. I love this time of the year! This year however, I have let this special time fly by too fast without me. Lately I've been feeling down and angry and I was not sure why until I realized that I have been so selfish. My friend let me borrow a book from her, The Continuous Atonement, by Brad Wilcox and it has opened my eyes. I am so grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ. This week we are able to celebrate His birth. Without Him, we would be hopeless and lost. I am so grateful for His sacrifice for us because I am nowhere near perfect. I love this time of year when we can count our blessings and remember what truly is important. This last week my grandpa had a heart attack and was in the ICU for a few nights. Had my entire extended family not been at his house that night, he would have died. Thank goodness for our blessings. Trent and I are also so grateful for all of you who read our blog and keep in touch. We are so lucky to have you all in our life! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Celebrate Good Times

School will be done in the next two weeks and I wanted to update the blog. We are not non-existent even though it seems like we are. Trent and I don't get to see each other very often. I guess it comes with the demand of two full-time programs. School has been so GREAT! I have loved every minute of the hygiene program so far and I can't wait to start seeing real patients next semester (let me know if you need a cleaning and you don't have insurance :) )! I really enjoy the other 29 girls that I go to school with. Surprisingly, everyone still gets along. I've made some really good friends so far and I look forward to making more in the future. School for Trent is going really well. He's gearing up to start applying for internships in the summer. He's also seriously considering a master's degree in Architecture from the U, but we'll take things one step at a time. We'd like to start a family someday ;).

I uploaded some pictures from school and from our vacation with Trenton's family to Dallas at the end of September for his cousin's wedding. More photos soon to come in December.

Oh yeah,this happened. This luxurious green suit was just waiting for me at the DI. I was a Leprechaun for our class Halloween party. I won funniest costume! Those are the girls I carpool with from Brigham City. They won best overall costumes!

This was while we were on our way from the wedding to the reception. Trent and his brother-in-law were having a little too much fun.

Hygiene School Adventures

Well, I started Dental Hygiene School yesterday! All the anticipation had built up for so long! I was gone at school yesterday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM! What a long but fun day! Today I was only at school until three, but I am TIRED already! Bad news, since it's only the second day, but oh well! I am so happy to be in this awesome program at school and to be going to school with 29 other fun ladies!

Major Update

I found my camera cord :)! Alright so here goes probably my longest blog ever! Trenton and I saved as much as we could so that we could go back to San Diego this summer before our lives get too crazy. Lucky for us, my parents ended up coming with us as well as my brother, his wife, and my two CUTE CUTE CUTE nephews! We had a blast!

My nephew Jackson was obsessed with pulling or pushing everything including the stroller, luggage, etc. so my dad bought him his very own roller bag. This night he was chasing Trent around the living room saying "Gonna get you" and "See ya later". He loves his uncle Trent!

At Sea World, Trenton experienced his first encounter with a sting ray!

We were at Sea World first thing when it opened and Trent, my mom and I ran over to the rapids ride. While on the ride, my mom was the only one to get wet so I said, let's ride it again! Little did we know that my mom had bad luck that day because once again, only she got wet. It was hilarious! Her pants were dripping!

We went to eat at our favorite place on Coronado Island, the Moo Time Creamery! Trenton was not able to finish his huge dessert. Jackson ate so much ice cream! I'm sure he had a tummy ache that night.

We weren't planning on it, but we all ended up going to Disneyland! It is my favorite place to go! The best part is that after dark, there was all of this cool new stuff to do at California Adventure! There was a block party called Glow Fest that was so much fun! They were playing techno music, it was pretty much like clubbing! We went to the new show called World of Color that was so amazing! We ended up in the wet zone which was awesome because no one was in front of us, but we got soaked!

Lastly, we visited my great uncle, Uncle Dick Preston! He is an amazing man with an amazing life story. You would never be able to tell, but he's 94! Our vacation to San Diego was so fun, and very worth it! We got home on a Saturday, and the following Saturday we moved to Brigham City. It was really hard to move from our beautiful apartment in Logan to where we are now. I'm so grateful for the place that we are at now, but needless to say that neighbors that live above and below us have been hard to deal with.

One night we went up to my family cabin in Park City and Scooter cuddled up with Jackson. So cute!

I gave Scooter a bone when we were moving into our new place so that he would be preoccuppied, but I found him trying to hide it in our laundry. I love him!

Lastly, I had to leave my awesome job in Logan. All of the people that I worked with have become great friends and I will miss laughing with them everyday! I start hygiene school next week and I am so excited to blog about it! I got all of my instruments yesterday and some of them will surprise you to see. Anywho, our summer was great!

Run Run Run

Trenton and I ran the Salt Lake Marathon last Saturday! (We'll pretend that picture is of me winning the race!)It was a pretty hard course but we survived and actually beat our previous record of four hours and forty-seven minutes by one minute! Another milestone for us, ha ha! Also, Trenton has been accepted into the interior design studio program at USU which is the division of the program that you want to be in so that's good! Other than that, nothing else is new. We're trying to figure out where we are going to live the next two years, Logan, Brigham City, or Ogden. I'm leaning towards Brigham City because it is in the middle for the both of us and an easier drive but we will see...

The Moment of Truth is Approaching...

Well, as the title states, our moment of truth is approaching, but not soon enough. In April or the end of March, I will find out if I am accepted into the Weber State University Dental Hygiene Program. If I do get accepted, I will be intensely involved with school for the next four semesters and I will graduate Spring of 2012! If I do not get accepted, I will have to wait another year! This program is very competitive and in order to get in, grades need to be pretty much perfect. Wish me luck! In April sometime, Trenton will find out if he will be in the Studio Program at Utah State or the Business and Marketing Program in the Interior Design department. Whatever happens to him will be great because he will still get his degree and graduate in Spring 2012. However, the Studio program is rumored to be much more time consuming than the Business and Marketing Program. Either way, Trenton will be great and excel!
Also, our Spring is going to be pretty busy! My sister-in-law is due in April, my younger sister is getting married in April/May (no official date yet), Trenton's younger sister is due in May, and his older sister is due in June! It will be a busy but super exciting Spring! Now please, just let the sun shine and no more inversions! :)

Invincible...NOT

Well, I have to admit that I thought I was invincible. I honestly thought I was going to get away without having to experience the swine flu. Sadly enough, I was wrong. I am sad to report that both Trenton and I have the swine flu. Trenton is actually recovering but I have just begun. The sad news is that we are basically being quarantined in our apartment. The good news is, so far, the swine flu is really not that bad. I'm super achey and tired, and Trenton has a horrible cough, but that is about it. We decided to quit our no sweets competition due to the swine flu because nothing else but ice cream feels good on my throat. However, we did make it ten days which is a new personal record! Anyways, I'll keep you updated on our condition.

Halloween/The Fat Blog

For Halloween we traveled down to good old SLC to party with Trenton's family. We decided to do a murder mystery dinner. It was fun at the beginning but died towards the end. Trent and I dressed up as 80's style rockers (Brenda called me a whore and some guy called me a hooker, but I promise my costume was completely modest!). It was fun and spontaneous and it was good to see everyone (rememeber, both Trenton's sisters are pregnant and due in the spring). It was fun to hear about all of the pregnancy stories so far.
Also, I have noticed for awhile now that I have gained some weight since we got married (so sad to admit it, but my fat jeans are pretty tight now). So, I've decided to lose it so I can fit in my clothes again! In order to help me do so, Trent and I decided to make a pact to not eat any sweets until Thanksgiving day. If I fail, I have to detail Trent's car. (Have you seen his car? It's probably worth $500 on a good day.) Wish me luck! I am totally addicted to cake, ice cream, brownies, etc. So far, I have not broken my promise. It's only been four days, but for me, that is already a miracle!

So far, Logan has been good to us. We have loved it up here and it has been so fun to eat out at all of the new places (Firehouse Pizza is my new favorite)! Also, it has been fantastic living back in Utah again! (We do miss San Diego though :)) Just a quick update, Trenton has been working full time at The Mobile Source where he worked before we moved to Cali and I just got a new job this week with a dentist in Providence! School starts on Monday and we're nervous but excited to get it underway and move closer to a career! Hope this wasn't too boring! We're running the Top of Utah marathon up here next month and we'd love to have anyone come up and support us and celebrate with us. If not, any time you are up here or nearby, let us know and we'd love to get together!

Jackson Hole/Fairview

My family decided at the spur of the moment to go to Jackson Hole over the weekend of the 24th of July! It was really fun even though Trenton and I were only there for one day. We went on a white water raft trip down the Snake River with my sister and her boyfriend and my sister-in-law. It was tons of fun and we didn't fall out! The next weekend, we went with Trenton's family to a cabin in Fairview in the middle of nowhere! It was exciting to be out in the wild but the mice in the walls kept us up all night. Still, it has been so fun to be home and close to family and friends again!

We're Back!

Hello all! We are back (in Utah that is)! We are officially moved in to our place in Logan which might I add is twice the size of our place in San Diego and half the rent, yeah we couldn't be more excited! Our place is a mess from unpacking but who cares, we're back!
We took some family pictures on the beach in cali before we left so I will upload them asap. Also, two days ago I became very impulsive because I was annoyed of my hair and I chopped it. CHOPPED IT! It is the shortest I have ever remembered my hair beind but luckly I love it (pictures to follow).
Anyways, we are happy to be back and we want to visit everyone again! Keep us posted!

The Beginning of Goodbye

As we begin our goodbye to California, we're trying to live it up here as much as we can. Last week, we went to Disneyland with my parents, my sister, and her two kids. We had a great time playing but it was hard to go back to work the next day! We got together with my great Uncle Dick again and I told everyone to make a silly face. My family belonged in the animal cages.
We found matching hats! Yesterday we ran the San Diego Marathon! It was such a thrill lining up with 20,000 other people and running to Rock 'n Roll the entire time! It was the second time for Trent and my sister's first! She is such a trooper! She trained better than us and finished the 26.2 miles even though her knee was injured and swollen! We all felt really good at mile 16. Only 10 more! And then we all felt like crying at the end. The worst part is how sore we are today and will be for the next week! It was all worth it though :)!

We're Coming Home...Sort of...!

Well, the good news came today, the best day for it to come! It's a blistering 95 degrees outside today and yes, I know most people would love to be in 95 degree weather right now, we would too. But let me tell you, 95 degrees is not enjoyable when you live in a teeny-tiny apartment that does not have air conditioning. It is 8:18 PM, it's dark outside, and it's a yucky 84 degrees inside our apartment. We don't plan on getting much sleep tonight. Anyways, Trenton got accepted into the Interior Design program at Utah State! We are moving back to Utah!!! We couldn't be happier! We miss home so much and we can't wait to be living close to everyone again. San Diego has been a really good experience for us and now we have the perfect vacation spot. Anyways, can't wait to catch up with all of you! We'll be home the middle to the end of July. If anyone would like to come visit, do it soon!

"I Think I'll Try Defying Gravity"

Wow! We had a busy month of March (and beginning of April). Trenton's mom came to visit us the first weekend in March. It was really fun to see her! While she was here, Trenton and I were dogsitting my brother's dog, Scottie. One day we took Scottie and Scooter to the beach. Scottie does not like getting in the water but for some reason this day, he was willing to so I took pictures of the memorable moment.
My mom was able to come visit us here in San Diego for three whole weeks during the month of March! I am so grateful for that time we spent together here. While she was here we celebrated Trenton's 25th birthday! We went out to dinner at a 50's diner called Corvettes where Trenton was served an entire plateful of dessert! Also while my mom was here, she and I drove up to Santa Ana (about an hour north) to visit my great-uncle, Uncle Dick. He is 93 years old and still going strong!(Judging by the picture you would never know that he is 93). I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to go visit him because I knew he would not remember me (the last time I saw him I was about 8), but I am so grateful that I had to opportunity to go visit him! His house is like a historical monument! My Uncle Dick was an optometrist so he has an entire collection of glasses from so many years ago. Also, he makes life size tin men out of old canisters. He has tin men hanging all over his house, his back yard, and his guest house. He even does a tin man show!I took some pictures of the tin men that he has made and of him with my mom. My Uncle Dick's wife, Aunt Marian, passed away about five years ago and now my Uncle Dick has a caretaker that lives with him. It might sound funny, but my testimony of the Atonement was strengthened when I went to visit my Uncle Dick. He is Prebyterian so I'm not sure what he believes about life after death, but I know for sure that my Aunt Marian is on the other side waiting to be with him again. Also, I'm so grateful to have such an awesome Uncle! Finally, for spring break at the beginning of April, we were able to spend a week back home! It was time for a much-needed break from school and we were so lucky to be able to spend it at home in Utah. Throughout the week we visited Weber for me to find out more about how to get into the Dental Hygiene program and Utah State to find out how Trenton can get into the Interior Design program there. We also visited family and friends and finally caught up in what's going on with everyone else. It was a busy but fun week. The highlight of our trip home was the opportunity to go see the broadway musical "Wicked" on opening night! It was such a great performance and we will definitely be going to it many more times! "Defying Gravity" is my favorite song from the musical, hence the name of this blog.
So, like I said, we've had a busy couple of weeks and we enjoyed every minute of it. Last but not least, while we were home, we were able to find out good news and bad news about a couple of our close friends. We just want to let you guys know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you the best with everything! Keep in touch!

Just Another Day In Paradise

Well, today has been just another day in paradise. I had a bad week last week, which carried over into this week. Yes, when you read this I may sound dramatic. Sunday we found out that Trent no longer has his school scholarship through his dad's work which was paying for his school so now we can't afford it out here. And today I found out that I did not get into hygiene school at Weber. This did not come as a total shock since so many people apply each year. Yes, it may sound lame to you, but it really is just another day in paradise. I am so grateful for the blessings that Trent and I do have. We have been so blessed since we have moved out here to California. So I didn't get into hygiene school, that is great! It just means that something else is supposed to happen or I'm just supposed to work on my patience :). Sorry if this is a lame blog, I just wanted to update everyone.

We took a picture of us at this photo booth and then we were able to add cartoon parts to it to make it look better. We had a blast! Good News!

For those of you who don't know, I am a pre-dental hygiene major. I'm working as a dental assistant right now and I can't wait to finally be a hygienist! I found out that I am eligible to apply for the hygiene program at Weber State University so I sent out my application yesterday! It's a very competitive field (200 people apply for 30 seats) and I most likely will not get in this fall but next fall I should be accepted. It's really exciting knowing that I am finally at the point of applying!
Other great news, Trent got a job! We've really been struggling out here in Cali because it is so dang expensive and so Trent went out and found a job. His job is a valet job at the retirement complex across the street from where we live. Along with parking cars, he also has to answer all 911 calls from the residents! It should be an exciting week next week as he begins this job.

Kevin & Julie's Wedding

Kevin, Trent's dad, got married on January 9, 2009 in the Jordan River Temple to his girlfriend, Julie. We were so lucky to be there! It was so exciting to go to their wedding! Trent and his brother Justin were asked to be the witnesses which was awesome for them. It was a nice relaxing wedding. Now, every single member of Trent's family is married!

Hey everyone! Trent and I were very blessed to be able to have a three week break for Christmas! We spent the first week at home in Salt Lake visiting family and friends and enjoying Christmas! It was so much fun to have a reunion with my cousins!
This year, my parents decided to give us kids a 10 day trip to Disney World. We were so stoked to go because Trent had never been! We left for Florida on the 27th of December. Trent and I were to fly with my sister Natalie, her husband Jeremy, and their sons Ben and Alex. After we boarded the plane and backed away from the gate, the captain announced that the weather in Chicago was bad and so we sat on the runway for an hour and a half. We then took off. When we reached Chicago, the weather was still bad and we had to circle in the clouds for half an hour before landing. For those of you who don't know, I have a phobia of flying - especially in bad weather. Well, for that half an hour of circling, the turbulance was more than I have ever experienced. Needless to say, I cried and cried. But just to let you know how bad it really was, everyone on the plane was throwing up, and even Trent was holding tight to his "air sickness bag". When we finally landed in Chicago, our connecting flight was long gone, along with many other people. The line customer service was 200 something people long.I sat in that line for awhile while the rest of my family that was already in Orlando, kept calling and getting angry. Customer service told us the next available flight to Orlando was three days away. Finally after getting our names on the standby list, we all ended up on the last flight out and got to Orlando at 1 a.m. What an adventure!
The ten days in Orlando were much less dramatic and we had tons of fun at every park! We loved the Animal Kingdom park the best, but the water park came in a close second. We recommend everyone goes there at least once in their life!

Thanksgiving at Home

We were so grateful to be able to spend an entire week at home in Utah for Thanksgiving! It was definitely a time to be thankful. We were able to go to temple sessions, movies, have sleepovers, overeat, see the lights at temple square, and avoid homework while spending time with friends and family. Scooter enjoyed a week of having a backyard to play in and friends to play with also (Maggie and Pippin). We spent Thanksgiving day with Trenton's mom and siblings. Dinner was absolutely amazing! We're now looking forward to three weeks of fun over Christmas. We're coming home on the 19th and aren't leaving to go back to Cali until January 10th!

Go, JAZZ, Go!

Over Thanksgiving break, we went to the Jazz/Bulls game! We were super stoked to go to the game so to show our true spirit, we made our own Jazz fan shirts (much cheaper than buying already made ones). Trenton's shirt looked much better than mine, but they were fun to wear and they earned us some time on the jumbotron. Totally worth it!

San Diego

We just moved to San Diego about a month and a half ago because Trenton was accepted to a private four-year interior design school. My family was able to come out and visit us about a week later and we all went to Disneyland. Trenton loves his school so far and his projects that he has worked on have been absolutely amazing! Trenton has a great sense of creativity and it shows in everything he does.

I love San Diego. Ever since I can remember, I have vacationed in San Diego with my family every summer and almost every Christmas Vacation. I have had a little bit of a harder time getting used to the atmosphere out here and the constant rush of a big city. I am starting to get used to it and I am so glad that I did not have to make this transition alone. We love the beautiful weather of San Diego and the beach, but we're also excited for when the time comes for us to move back to Utah. We miss everyone!

Scooter

Well, we aren't going to lie. We pretty much have the coolest dog in the world! Scooter is a west highland terrier puppy and he was born on March 3rd, 2008. Scooter is pure white with loving black eyes. Some of Scooter's favorite things to do include swimming (in the ocean or a pool), giving kisses, and sleeping in the most random places possible. Scooter's best friend is his cousin, Scotty. Scooter has been the best companion and is a natural member of the family. Scooter had an attack encounter with a german shephard in July and we are so blessed that he is still with us today. We love Scooter very much and we hope that this has helped you to get to know him a little better too!
